She does look good.

Jon Stewart seems to be off to a good start, don't you think?

Very good to see Owen Wilson there. This would be his first public appearance - isn't it?

Okay, was gonna be mean (not about Owen - I'm with you on that one) but won't...yet anyway. ;)

You know I like all the clips and stuff, and the show would be really dry if they just did straight awards but I wonder how long the show would be if they cut that all out. It always seems like they don't have time to show the best actor/actress clips at the end of the show because they're running long. Oh, and how much time are they allowed for their speech? Does it include "getting to the stage" time? Just wondering.

I completely agree! Some of them are great, but some. . .it's like ENOUGH ALREADY! There has to be a way to cut down on the wasted time

ooh, 3:10 to Yuma just got slammed by the Bourne Ultimatum. Too bad.

Bring on Johnny Depp, baby!! He's the only reason I'm watching this freakin' show! :)

Okay, I just thought Cate Blanchet won, based on her reaction. (Obviously I don't know the actress who won. LOL) Guess Cate was happy her competition won?

I was reading an article earlier today about costumes worn at the Oscars in the past and they mentioned Cher and went on about her history, including her past lovers. It said - in parenthesis - that Tom Cruise was current. Does that mean that Tom Cruise and Cher were lovers? And if so, why have I never heard this before?

I know, a little off topic but a girl's mind tends to wander. :)

ooh, I'd never heard that one before. Remember that big black thing Cher wore that year? How hilarious! If Bill Blass wasn't big before she started wearing his clothes, he certainly was afterward. ha!

I think my problem this year is that I don't know 80% of the people I'm seeing on the stage. Who are all these people and where did these movies come from that I've never heard of? Like the lady who won for best actress?? Never heard of that movie. I need to get out of my cave.

I feel the same way. I don't know any of these people.

Oh, and something I always found funny was that the designer who outfitted Cher was the same designer that outfitted Carol Burnett. Talk about versatile!

Really??? I had no idea. Oh, here comes Harrison Ford - he's great! Sure, he's not a young pup anymore, but I don't care. I can't wait for the new Indiana Jones movie in May. He has such a distinctive voice, don't you think??

Did you ever see Michael Clayton? I never did, but I really want to.

We were posting at the same time...I thought the dress was kind of interesting. Not something I could wear but it seemed to suit her - I thought.

No, I haven't seen Michael Clayton yet.

So, an ex-"exotic dancer" just won an award. And you know, I kind of like the dress she has on. It suits her - and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Oh, and I'm with you on Harrison Ford. There's just something about him.

LOL - well, you're right. It did suit her, though i'd have preferred it if she'd pinned the front closed a little - I really don't want to see that much of anyone! LOL

Well, yeah, that's true.

Okay, I want the handsome, two-time Sexiest Man Alive, George Clooney to win. Oops, didn't realize he was up against Mr. Depp. Maybe they can have a two-way tie? It's happened before.

Thanks for watching with me, Laura. :) Maybe by the 2009 Oscars, I'l be more in tune with who's who and why they're being nominated! And freakin' hell, but Johnny better win one of these years!!!!!

Thanks for indulging me Laura. Always a pleasure to watch award shows with you. :)

And yeah, it's always better when you know who it is up for the awards. A few years ago I tried to get out and see all the movies before the awards show. I haven't been as ambitious since.

To next year.......
